In Bioscience, Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Kondo et al. reported an association between 12 weeks of 15 mL or 30 mL of vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons, and lower body weight.

A meta-analysis by Daniela Valdes et al., published in 2021 in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, found inconsistent results on weight loss from vinegar use. However, they did note that dietary vinegar is “well tolerated” and has “no adverse side effects.”

If it doesn’t hurt, it may be worth a try. Before you do, it’s good to know that vinegar should be diluted instead of drunk straight.

Remember to always talk with your healthcare provider before starting any dietary changes.
